Black & Blue Tuna

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound tuna

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil for searing

  • 3 tablespoons black sesame seeds

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

INSTRUCTIONS

1.Mix dry ingredients together in a small bowl.

2.Pat the yellowfin tuna dry with paper towels.

3.Place tuna on a plate, coat all sides with soy sauce. This will help the sesame spice adhere to the tuna.

4.Generously sprinkle all sides of the tuna with the sesame mix, pressing it down into the flesh. Coat the sides.

5.Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat, until very very hot. Add the oil and coat the pan and let it get hot. Carefully lay the tuna in the pan and sear 45-60 seconds on both sides until golden brown. Sear the long edges using tongs to hold it upright.

6.Place on a cutting board and thinly slice using a very sharp knife. Serve with Wasabi and Soy Sauce and enjoy!
