FRESH TUNA SALAD SAMMY

INGREDIENTS

  • Tuna from your SSS package.

  • Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper to taste

  • 2 Cups of Coconut Oil

  • 2 small shallots or 1 small red onion (Edwards Supermercado in Rincon sells shallots)

  • 1/3 cup of mayonnaise

  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar

  • 1/4 cup chopped celery

  • 1 cucumber sliced

  • sprouts

  • 1 avocado

  • 1 lemon sliced

  • Sourdough bread (preferably from Levain Bakery in Aguadilla)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Open your fresh Tuna pack from Secret Seafood Society. Wrap steaks in paper towels and let thaw in fridge for 3-4 hours.

  2. Heat oven to 275ºF (140ºC).

  3. Season tuna steaks on both sides with salt and pepper.

  4. Place fillets in oven safe dish and cover with the coconut oil. Add shallots and lemon slices and cover and bake for around 30 minutes or until fish is just cooked through. Important not to overcook.

  5. Let cool and add the tuna and shallots (discard the lemon) to a mixing bowl. Save the coconut oil to use later for another recipe the flavor is insane! Add mayo, vinegar and celery to the mixing bowl and mash up with a fork. Season with salt and pepper. Place in fridge and let sit 30 minutes.

  6. Slice and toast the sour dough bread. Scoop tuna salad on bread, top with sliced avocado, cucumber and sprouts.

  7. Close the sandwich and press firmly to mesh ingredients. Slice in half with a sharp knife and enjoy!
